A LITTLE GUIDANCE

Make yourself at home.

  1. Place. Tap the view or choose Place here. No floor scan needed.
  2. Adjust. Drag with one finger to turn and tilt together. Diagonal movements and changes of direction work without lifting your finger. Lift your finger and swipe again to continue a full turn. Two fingers move, pinch to resize and twist to turn. Open Accessibility (Aa) and enable controls for Move, Rotate & size, and Reading. Each button works with one tap or the keyboard.
  3. Lock & explore. Lock model prevents accidental edits. Walk around with your phone to see every side.

The circular-arrow button starts or pauses automatic rotation. The padlock locks model editing. The eye button at the top opens Clean view; the i button lists object details. Rotation starts after placement, pauses while reading details and stops when you edit or lock the model.

Clean view hides the controls and detail markers and pauses model editing. Show controls brings them back. The camera button at the bottom still takes photos.

Locking does not stop room tracking or prevent tracking drift. If tracking pauses, move slowly toward a well-lit area with visible details. Place again unlocks the model and starts a new placement.

ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE

An interpretation, not a scan.

The model follows the catalogue’s 16.2 cm height and 12.5 cm diameter. Carving depth is photographic; the interior and underside are estimates. Walk-around AR uses room tracking, with free placement and adjustable size. It does not require a detected floor or represent measured scale. Tracking may drift or pause. Interior and underside details are estimated, not captured. The soft shadow is decorative, placed beneath the model; it does not detect a real surface.

Object and source photography: Spurlock Museum of World Cultures, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Fred A. Freund Collection. Photography rights remain with their original holders.
